What is Resurrectionalium?
When resurrection men prowled the graveyards and cemeteries of the nineteenth century they were in search of loot. For the taphophile we are there to respect the memories of those who came before us, to revel in the serenity of repose, to admire the artwork and symbolism found only in those places, and to commune with our ancestors.
Resurrectionalium is a blog that chronicles the graveyards, boneyards, burial grounds, mausoleums, crypts, memorial gardens, and cemeteries visited by the author, Jonathan Parrish Rivers, and profiles genealogists, cemetery researchers, preservationists, restorationists, taphophiles, photographers, other bloggers, historians, writers, and other researchers of death culture, cultural and religious beliefs, funerary art, headstone imagery and symbolism, and mourning practices and rituals.
Also appearing will be topics such as oddities, curiosities, and other weird stuff.
